CONFLUÈNCIES. Artistic interventions in the towns of Route 99

Campos de fútbol (Football pitches) – one of our most meaningful works- serves now as a prologue, a starting point and excuse to generate new lines of research; the gesture of initiation which constituted the search for those playing fields, now three decades ago, transforms into a process of construction near to the performative-installation which seeks to multiply the reading fields of the spaces.

Our artistic proposal, consists of the installation of two goals in the towns of Torralba del Pinar and Pavías, set out as a temporary intervention in the landscape with the aim of symbolically connecting these two small neighboring towns which, located in the Sierra de Espadán mountain range, belong to different regions. These sculptures, situated in the heart of nature and physically separated by the orography of the land, emphasize the possibility of playing the game, in turn displaying an enormous reflection in the landscape, of what is common and shared.

From a collection of ideas around the concepts of territoriality and shared assets, we configure via chats and talks, walks, sketches, photographs and models, a type of choreography designed to establish reflections that enable us to think about the space beyond the parameters established by the political arrangement of the area or the geography of the places, to imagine other possible common areas.

María Bleda (Castellón, 1969) and José María Rosa (Albacete, 1970) work together on the link that exists between image, place and memory. Campos de fútbol, Campos de batalla, Origen o Prontuario (Football fields, Battle fields, Origin or Compendium) are some of the most relevant photographic series in their career, recognized in 2008 with Premio Nacional de Fotografía.
