Educational workshop “Pieces, Patterns, Lines. Collage in the IVAM’s Collection”

EducationalWorkshops

The educational workshop is articulated as a space of experimentation about the technology of the Collage. Before entering the room, it is possible to see a video where the basic concepts of this artistic discipline are explained. Once in the room, the workshop is divided into several zones where different activities will be able to be realized and to approach the collage from different materials and formats.

In the bottom wall in black colour, the three-dimensional collage is worked with found objects, which are inside a drawer in the centre of the room, which will be filled with the objects that the participants contribute. In groups, a panel will be approached and an association will be done by the objects creating a dialogue among them, where objects are put into the work like an artistic and personal archaeology. This composition realized in the panels will be present during the stay in the workshop.

Later, on the tables, a collage is realized in two dimensions with all kinds of materials, magazines, newspapers, cardboards, etc.. This work is made in a more intimate and personal format as the first collages of the avant-garde artists in the period between wars. To work, there are stickers, scissors, pencils of colours, graphites, typographical rulers, so that every participant makes his own work that can have an abstract, geometric aspect, photomontage, etc… Every participant will be able to take the work realized once ended.

As a final activity, the contribution to a few giant collages that exist on a few panels that are in the wall is realized and it will be completed by the participants who are taking part in the workshop and at the same time, it is the atmosphere of the own workshop.
