18 GORDON MATTA-CLARK Spliting, 1974 This combination of sculptural and pictorial works, of a determining physical presence alongside documentary photographs in which the image shows the arrested moment of an absence, is completed with a double projection of Matta-Clark’s actions, in which the record of something that no longer exists becomes one with the specific time of the duration of the video and its spatial construction based on demolition. This is the point at which we start: a precarious state of things seeking urgent transformation.
